Opera Poster
My design processes started with a variety of ideas and designs, all variations had a woman figure. I ended loving the idea of a faceless woman. I ended up choosing to create one that had a woman standing in a large rose, with a sword in front of her legs.
I played around with the placement of the sword, and ended up making it larger in the final design. I loved that by having it overlap the area below it created a nice division and brought the viewers eyes down to the text.
I wanted the rose to be very stylized and unique. From the beginning I knew I needed a red color for the rose, but not a stark bright red. I found the maroon color very pleasing. After designing the rose, I felt it needed something more. I tried copying the rose shape and changed the color to a black and lowered the opacity, which I just love.
The woman is intriguing and statuesque, with her silver skin and lack of facial features.
The overall design is very modern for an opera, however it brings a fresh feel to a time honored art. I am hoping to receive an AdobeAward for my design.
